TIMELINE - COACHES JOURNEY
1. EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
A parent of a current member may express interest in being more involved in the club or can be approached for a volunteering position.
Alternatively, a current member can also express an interest or be approached to be more involved in club activities and as a part of volunteering schemes such as Duke of Edinburgh or Leaders Awards.
2. CHOOSE A SESSION
The parent or member will need to choose the session they would like to volunteer in and agree their individual responsibilities.
3. ACCESS TO PORTAL
The volunteer can be given access to the Badminton Centre online coaching portal for a monthly fee of £15.
The online portal contains a variety of materials to help support their volunteering and coaching journey, including session plans and activities, videos explaining how to effectively run sessions, how to present yourself, maintaining a positive mindset, values and ethos of the club.
4. LEVEL 1 & 2 COURSE
The volunteer can be offered to formalise their coaching skills through pursuing the Level 1 and Level 2 Badminton England training course.
The course may be funded in exchange for sessions delivered after the coach passes. This will be agreed between the coach and Badminton Centre. Continuous guidance will be provided from those who have completed the course. After completing their Level 1 course, there will be opportunities to build games sessions around the coach and deliver our fantastic sessions to more people in the community. Opportunities to support young workers will be looked into.
5. RUN A SESSION
Upon completing their Level 2 course, newly qualified coaches will be offered their own session to coach and be on stand-by to cover other coaches where required.
Coaches will have a self-employed position at Badminton Centre and work on days that suit their timetable.
6. RUN YOUR OWN BUSINESS
Coaches who demonstrate strong leadership, commitment, and the ability to grow sessions may have the opportunity to launch their own Badminton Centre franchise, receiving ongoing support, mentoring, and access to proven systems to build a successful coaching business.
