Meet Your Head Coach

Steve Kiernan

Grassroot Coach of the Year 2024

From 11 years old, Steve has played and coached badminton in countries such as Belgium, Denmark and Malta, representing his club and Warwickshire County. The tournament circuit and County matches as a junior took Steve and his team all over the UK competing against the best players in his age group.

After coaching at his school, Steve set up badminton sessions in the Solihull area, entering teams into the Solihull Badminton League with many members going on to represent the County and local leagues.

Steve is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of badminton players and developing our future stars!  Steve was presented with the Grassroot Coach of the Year 2024 for his contributions to growing the sport.

Club Partnerships & Associates

As a Badminton Centre, we are passionate about creating opportunities for people to participate in badminton in our local communities. We are proud to collaborate with many local clubs, schools and coaches to make sure the badminton journey for every player of every ability is positive and they are directed to the best place for their needs.

Activ Sports Badminton Club

As with other clubs the Badminton Centre is a hub for anyone to train and play more badminton against players from a mixture of clubs. We have very close links with Activ Sports - Performance Coach Alan Wong has a great set up for children representing the County and beyond. We have directed players their way once they have reached a certain level of play and maturity - likewise players who are not quite performance level or need a bit more support and motivation have been directed to the Badminton Centre to prepare them for the performance sessions Alan runs.

It all starts in our schools. Their first experience of the sport is important and from here they then have the opportunity to attend more structured lessons with the Badminton Centre.

Tudor Grange Badminton Club

Woodrush Dragons

Developing new and upcoming clubs is the way to grow the sport we love.

Lighthall Badminton Club

Lighthall Badminton Club is based in Solihull and we're a friendly but competitive club with current membership just in excess of 40. We welcome any player over the age of 16 of a decent standard who has ideally played league standard badminton.

Collaborate with us

Would you like your club to have an adult or junior feeder session? We have the classes, coaches and sessions in place. There are 100's of members wanting to play in the local leagues. This could be a win-win-win:

  • Our local players get to play more competitive matches allowing more opportunities to develop and improve

  • Our full time dedicated coaches get the security of consitent work and flow of new members directed by our collaborators

  • Your club has a section which will constantly feed into your current club securing the future and longevity of your club

  • The local Solihull League grows creating more teams and opportunities to play within the community

Please contact to discuss the options further - we are open to suggestions as growing the sport is our priority and we believe collaboration, not competition, is the key!
